Great Moments In Movies #1
12/31/2006 10:08 AM
I’ve been meaning to kick this off for while. Movies these days seem lacking, I know its easy to rail on the cinema but great “films” are rare. I’ve taken my solace in finding great “moments”. Today’s moment is brought via Grosse Pointe Blank. The movie is solid B depicting a hit man returning for his high school reunion, disaffected, socially inadequate and morally ungrounded he rings a chord with solid percentage of the teenage males that grew up in the 80s. Anyway the moment…Reunion in full swing our antagonist sits down with Amy and her baby, Robbie. Coincidentally Amy is Ann Cusack, John’s older sister. Robbie is forced upon our protagonist, Martin. Martin and Robbie lock eyes as the strains of Queens “Under Pressure” and in this connection with a pure innocence and he sees what’s missing in himself. It helps that it’s a really cute baby.
