Ok we already know that I'm old. Working in a place that is predominantly in its 20's...I've seen things. Things that have bugged me (big surprise). Now I'm not saying I'm the model of professionalism but...My latest thing are these shelf system stereos. They are cool...great for your house. Amazing sound comes out of these tiny speakers. Light years ahead of my first boom box. In the middle of Def Leppard’s, Pyromania the right channel would cut out only to be cured with solid blow from my closed fist. Those early years taught me alot about the appreciation multi channel recording. When I heard the The Cult "Electric" out side the bounds of my shitty stereo I was amazed. There is a whole different dimension here. Right side sound Back to my shelf stereo diatribe. These systems also have incredible output. You look at that knob and the bass starts to thump. People are dragging these into my office in droves. Its a call center. Its not like you can crank up your phat jams. As I get older I marvel more and more at mans ability to inflict sound on his fellow man. Don't get me wrong...My younger years are filled with days of my stereo blasting just so the world could what a unique and brilliant thing I was. Is that the basis of this? Is it a cry out to the world to be identified.... saying, "I am here! Acknowledge me!" Hmmm some interesting psychology there. Or is it just as simple as being annoying. We humans have a great affinity to that also. I also can't deny the catharsis and compulsion in burying the needle for Tom Sawyer or Good Times from Inxs. But in circling back to my initial point made many sentences ago. This is a workplace. Slap on a pair of head phones like the rest of us saps. Take down the 'Soundboy 4000'...put away the 90 jigga-watt speakers and let me have a little peace.

Oh wait...U2...Where the streets have no name. Turn that up.
