Birth Of A Fan/Death Of A Sport.

I write this article mainly to myself. I feel like I am quite literally writing this on a piece paper climbing to the top of my roof and throwing to the wind. I’m sure most of you won’t care about this and I’m not asking you to. This is my page and I’ll rany where I like.

CART is dying. A slow, meandering little death For those of you who have no clue what I am talking about CART is an acronym for Championship Auto Racing Teams. Years ago the high performance teams split and one formed the IRL (Indy Racing League) and CART. There is big division in the fan base between the 2 groups. CART doesn’t have the restrictions that the IRL and the cars have a bit more zip to them. Earlier last year I got to go a race and I was instantly a fan. You can watch them on TV but until you stand along side a track while a car shoots past you at a 220 mph. Or watch them down shift to take a hairpin turn its twice the experience. From what I am reading they will be lucky to field 10 cars for the upcoming season. Major names like Rahal and Fernandez are dropping out. I can’t say that I blame them with so much of their future in doubt. They need to rig their cars and teams for either F1 (Formula One) or the IRL. Maybe I should just enter a race to help round out the field. I lied to women for years saying I was a Grand Prix Driver. As small as the fields are I’d be guaranteed a top 10 finish.

"...And rounding out the field for Team Rad is Jared Ladish driving a Ford Taurus rented from the local Hertz...it looks like means business today...I hear he TOOK the insurance!"

Its sad just because I started getting behind this thing only to find they are about as solvent as Enron and the more I learned about it the more I learned how doomed it was. I’ll probably make the jump to watching Formula One now that I’m kind of into racing. I really think the sport could reach a wider audience but it I never seen any marketing for it. They are putting in new fixes like a “turbo” button. To me its handing a Dixie cup to the engineer of the Titanic as its sinking. Oh well what are you gonna do…at least the NHL is secure…say what?

Now I will receive the emails correcting all the gaffs in this post.
