I threw a belt away...

Some of you who know me have seen me wearing a non descript brown belt. I threw it out this morning. It finally gave way on one of the weaves. I noticed it was frayed I gave it a little pull and it snapped. I laid the 2 pieces on the bed...starred at them for little bit. My mom gave me this belt. My mom passed away a few years back. It was one of the last "things" she gave me. I have gotten remembrances, things she wanted me to have. Pictures, my grandfather’s clock that she restored and put in our living room that always makes me think of growing up in the house. The belt. The belt was one of the last "Mom" things she gave me. You know when your mom stops by to visit you and she brings a box of mail, bag of apples, a nice shirt, and a sweatshirt because she's convinced that you are living in squalor. It’s a nice mom thing to do a good way to keep the nest tended. Before she got sick one of her last visits to me she gave me this belt. The belt that’s sitting on my bed. Snapped in half due to the tectonic shifts in my weight. I always liked it...it wasn't stylish. It’s a nice casual belt. Well it was. Kendra wanted to toss it a couple months back and I explained the reason why I had it and wanted to keep wearing it. She told me to always keep it. I think I clung to it so long because it was when she was mom. Not mom who is now a cancer patient. I picked up the belt and tossed it away. I did it in away because I can almost hear her voice yelling for me to throw that "ratty" belt away. I walked out of my house and left for work and thought about making this an article for Rad World. And thought it was just a stupid belt bought at American Eagle. Now there are tears streaming down my cheeks. Dammit.
